Mount Rogers Preschool Philosophy

At our preschools, we recognise that children arrive with a variety of life and family experiences that should be acknowledged and celebrated.

We believe in a play-based approach that caters to the individual needs, interests, abilities and backgrounds of all children. We recognise the importance of planned experiences as well as the power of grasping the teachable moment. Educators believe in the importance of observing and reflecting on children's play and interactions to influence future learning opportunities.

We encourage children to be active participants in their learning by providing experiences and resources that stimulate open-ended investigations. We value the learning process of all children and celebrate all types of participation. We believe that children are innately creative, capable and inquisitive learners who are developing understandings about themselves, their world and how to be part of a community.

This philosophy was developed by the Mount Rogers Preschool team comprising Flynn, Spence and Melba Preschools, in consultation with their students and families.

Children turning 4 years before April 30 are eligible for preschool. Enrolment is arranged through the front office of the main Mount Rogers Primary School location in Alfred Hill Drive, Melba. Once a child is enrolled at one of Mount Rogers' preschools, the enrolment is continuous through to Year 6.
