Homework - Home Learning

At Mount Rogers Primary we value the significant contribution parents make to their children's learning. We also recognise the rich learning children gain through participation in out of school activities such as music lessons, sports training and team participation, helping with daily chores, family trips and interactions with extended family and friends. To recognise this homework is titled Home Learning in our policy documents. Teachers give home learning tasks as a means of:

* reinforcing and enhancing school work at home

* developing study habits

* fostering home/school communication

Home Learning expectations vary from student to student.  Parents are asked to encourage work at home and to monitor and support the completion of homework.  Information regarding specific class expectations will be available from class teachers at the beginning of each school year.

We strongly recommend parents and carers read to the their children everyday and encourage their children to read to them throughout the primary school years.

Our Home Learning Policy is available in the Policy Folder held at the Front Office, or in the school policies section under the Our School tab on the school website.

House Captains

Mount Rogers Primary has 4 sporting houses – the Red Kangaroos, Blue Tongue Lizards, Green Tree Frogs and Yellow Cockatoos.  At the beginning of the year each House elects a male and female Captain and Vice Captain to lead the house at sporting events.
