Health and Physical Education are the areas of learning in which students develop skills, knowledge and attitudes to enable the pursuit of an active, healthy lifestyle, contributing to the individual's emotional, mental, physical and social wellbeing. Students at Mount Rogers have access to an excellent variety of equipment, as well as the use of a refurbished hall, a fully covered outdoor basketball court and several other outdoor areas.
Specialists visit our school to provide clinics in a range sports during the year. These clinics are designed to enhance student skill level and knowledge of the particular sport being taught. Tennis coaching is offered to all students from years 3-6. Students from our feeder high school, Melba Copland Secondary School, visit our school each term to teach sport skills and games to some of our classes (Years 2-4).
Three major sports carnivals are held each year at Mount Rogers Primary School. The swimming carnival is held early in Term 1. Cross-country is held late in Term 1 and athletics early in Term 2. These are fun days for all involved with a focus on full participation. These carnivals also provide opportunities for students to represent our school at district, ACT and national level. We are in the Belconnen Zone.
