Curriculum
Mount Rogers Primary School focuses its learning around the eight Key Learning Areas in accordance with the 'Every Chance to Learn' Curriculum Frameworks of the ACT Department of Education and Training and in line with the National Curriculum Statements and Profiles.

English
English is the area of learning where students study and use English language and literature, including literature translated into English. It includes speaking, listening, reading, viewing, and writing. Handwriting and spelling are elements of writing. Grammar is an element of speaking and writing.
Mathematics
Mathematics is the area of study which develops logical reasoning and the ability to analyse and solve mathematical problems. It is a form of communication which uses written, spoken and visual symbols. It is a creative activity involving inventing, developing intuition and exploring ideas and applying mathematical thinking to decision making and problem solving.
Science
Science is the area of study where students learn about the physical and biological world, objectively test out scientific ideas and explanations, understand that scientific knowledge has been developed by scientists from cultures all over the world, and learn that the scientific understanding of the world is constantly changing due to continuing research and new technology.
Studies of Society and Environment
SOSE, or Studies of Society and Environment, is an area of study in which students are engaged in actively learning skills in research, gathering, sorting and presenting information, about relationships between people and environments in the past and present, and about natural and built environments.
The Arts
The Arts is the area of study where students are actively involved in learning about dance, drama, media, music and visual arts. The Arts are a form of communication.
Health and Physical Education
Health and Physical Education is the area of learning in which students develop skills, knowledge and attitudes to enable the pursuit of an active, healthy lifestyle, contributing to the individual's emotional, mental, physical and social well being.
Technology
Technology is the area of study in which students generate practical ideas and apply their knowledge, experience and available resources to act on their ideas.
Students consider the impact of their designs on people and the environment, and use a range of materials and tools to make things.
Information technology and the use of the computer is only one aspect of the technology learning area.
French
French is our LOTE. The term LOTE refers to Languages Other Than English. It is the area of learning where students develop language skills to communicate effectively and appropriately for a wide range of audiences. LOTE learning develops skills in cultural understandings, oral interaction, reading and responding, and writing.
Reporting and Assessment
The key purpose of reporting is to support student learning by providing information to students and parents about student achievement and progress, and to indicate areas for further development.
Written reports are provided at the conclusion of Semesters One and Two. Parent/Teacher Interviews are also conducted at these times.
Learning Journeys are designed to showcase students' work and occur during Term 3.
